Definitions
In the Terms & Conditions of Award Entry, the following definitions apply:
‘The Event’ or ‘Award Dinner’ means ‘The WISE Awards 2024’
‘Judge’ means Award Judge / ‘Winner’ means Award Winner / ‘Finalist’ means Award Finalist / ‘Entrant’ means Award Entrant
‘Attendee’ means any person or business attending or registering to attend ‘The WISE Awards 2024’
‘Venue’ is Aspire, Leeds, United Kingdom.
Terms and Conditions
By entering the awards, the entrant will be deemed to have read and understood these terms and conditions of ‘Award Entry’ and ‘Ticket and Table Booking’ and to be bound by both terms and conditions.
By entering The WISE Awards 2024, all award and category entrants have agreed to allow the details of their entry to be shared with the judges and representatives of WISE. All entrants will be deemed to have consented to the transfer and sharing of their personal, company and project data and information for the purpose of administration and judging of the awards and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
The WISE Awards are open to any organisation whose primary products, services or activities are considered scientific, technological, engineering-focused or mathematic. This also includes any organisation whose products, services or activities don’t predominantly fit in those categories, but whose workforce encompasses scientific, technological, engineering-focused or mathematic roles. Entrant organisations must be based in, or have significant operations in, the United Kingdom.
All category entries must be received by WISE prior to the submission deadline. Entries received after the submission deadline will not be accepted. Neither WISE nor the judges will accept responsibility or liability for any lost, late, mislaid or incomplete entries, with all such entries deemed invalid. For the purpose of doubt, proof of dispatch shall not be accepted as proof of entry.
All category entries must be submitted in English and submitted electronically with supporting documents (if applicable) using the WISE Awards 2024 online platform. Any entry received by any other means including via email, fax, post or hand delivered will not be accepted.
Upon written request, entries may be withdrawn by the entrant at any time.
All entrants must be aged 18 or over. The entrant or the employer represented by the entrant, must have worked or be directly associated with the business, project or solution that is featured in the entry.
All ongoing correspondence about the awards and finalist information will be sent to the person submitting the entry
Entrants may enter multiple award categories, however all submitted entries must be tailored for each individual category.
Entries must not exceed the word count as per individual category area on the WISE Awards 2024 online platform. This word limit does not apply to supporting documentation.
All category finalists will be notified via email no later than 6 weeks prior to the awards (Thursday 30th November 2023). All award entrants will be sent an automated email conforming reception of their submission, with nominees themselves also receiving an automated email congratulating them on their nomination.
Once a shortlist of finalists from each award category is selected, the finalists will be publicly announced no later than 4 weeks prior to the awards (23rd January 2024). Finalists will also be listed on the WISE website and via WISE’s social media channels.
Award winners will be announced during the Awards Dinner taking place at Aspire in Leeds on 20th February 2024. Under no circumstances will the details of winners be disclosed prior to the event. During the awards dinner, all finalists for each award will be announced, with one award winner then announced from the finalists in each category. Winners will receive a trophy at the event. Finalists (excluding winners) will receive a certificate within 30 days of the event.
All Award category finalists are provided with complimentary tickets to the awards dinner.
The WISE Awards 2024 are judged by a panel of independent judges featuring both representatives from WISE Awards 2024 partners and WISE staff.
The judges and WISE reserve the right at its absolute discretion to reject any entry without explanation or notice.
The judges’ decision will be final and no explanation, correspondence or discussion will be offered or entered into before or following the judges’ decision. Additionally, feedback will not be guaranteed on any successful or unsuccessful entry before or following the judges’ decision.
Should entries of a winning standard not be submitted into an individual category, the judges at their absolute discretion may decline to award a winner or select finalists.
The judges and WISE reserve the right to amend category selections where it is deemed appropriate.
The judges reserve the right to disqualify any entry not accompanied by the appropriate / correct supporting documentation or any entry deemed to be inaccurate, false or misleading.
The judges and WISE accept no responsibility for any costs associated with entering or attending the awards. This includes but not limited to: Attending the awards dinner or the creation, submission, judging and / or evaluation of award entries.
WISE will not be held responsible for any travel, accommodation and / or (non-event served) food or refreshment requirements of an award attendee, finalist or winner.
WISE will not be held responsible for obtaining visas to the UK.
WISE reserves the right at its own discretion to alter or reschedule the awards, the awards dinner and / or to change the judging panel and / or these terms at any time and without notice.
WISE reserves the right and shall be entitled to make changes to the Event at any time without liability to any entrant, including without limitation in respect of the advertised content, timings on the day, date, venue, format and/or location of the Event or the advertised speakers. WISE will keep you informed of any such changes from time to time.
WISE reserves the right and shall be entitled to, in our sole discretion, cancel or postpone the date of the Event. WISE will give written notice to you of our decision to cancel or postpone the Event as soon as reasonably practicable. In the case of postponement of the Event, WISE will offer you the choice of either:
(i) a credit for a future event run by us of your choice (up to the value of sum paid by you in respect of the Event); or
(ii) the opportunity to attend the Event on the new date.
In the case of cancellation of the Event, WISE will offer you a credit for a future event run by us of your choice (up to the value of sum paid by you in respect of the Event).
No refunds are available once an order has been placed in respect of any postponement, cancellation or non-attendance (including without limitation for table booking or individual places). Should individual guests on your table be unable to attend, WISE would welcome a substitute guest attending in their place. Similarly, substitutions can be made for individual seats, at no extra charge. Please notify WISE by email with the name and job title of both the registered guest and the substitution guest.
WISE shall not be liable for any hindrance, failure or delay in performing any of our obligations arising out of or in connection with these Terms as a result of an event or series of connected events beyond our reasonable control (including, without limitation, acts of God, extreme weather conditions, power failure, floods, lightning, storm, fire, explosion, war, riot, civil commotion, military operations, acts or threats of terrorism, malicious damage, strike action, lock-outs or other industrial action (whether involving our workforce or the workforce of any other party), default of suppliers or sub-contractors, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule regulation or direction, accident, failure or breakdown of plant, machinery, systems or vehicles, or a pandemic, epidemic, civil emergency or other widespread illness) (“Force Majeure Event”).
In the event of a Force Majeure Event, WISE shall be entitled, without liability, at our sole discretion to vary, perform, suspend performance of, postpone, cancel the Event and/or the contract between us and/or terminate the contract between us subject to these Terms on giving written notice to you.
All award attendees accept and acknowledge that neither WISE nor the venue maintains insurance covering any attendees property and / or liability, and it is the sole responsibility of the award attendee to obtain such insurance.
All award entrants and award attendees agree to indemnify WISE against all costs, claims, damages and expenses that any award entrant and / or award attendee incurs as a result of, or in connection with; any breach of this agreement by WISE; or any complaint or claim made or brought against WISE in respect of any act or omission on the part of any award entrant, its representatives, award dinner guests or any award attendee.
During the award dinner, alcoholic beverages will be served for the enjoyment of attendees. WISE strongly advise all award attendees to keep within the UK legal drink driving alcohol limits. By agreeing to these terms & conditions, all award attendees accept full responsibility for their own actions and acknowledge and agree that WISE, the event suppliers, the venue and event sponsors will not be held responsible for any attendees actions following the consumption of alcohol, or from any related or non-related circumstance which may occur prior, during or following the awards dinner.
While peanuts or other tree nuts may not be an ingredient in the food served at the awards dinner, menu items may be produced in the same area as food containing various nuts. WISE, the event caters, suppliers and the venue wish to advise sufferers of nut allergies, that although best practices are used in the preparation of food served by the venue, inadvertent cross-contamination of nuts and nut traces may occur.
Prior and following the awards, WISE will produce a comprehensive media / publicity campaign highlighting the awards, award categories, winners, runners-up and finalists. All award entrants, winners, runners-up and finalists agree to offer WISE the exclusive right to use content, images and film for the promotion of the awards, and for the commercial promotion of WISE and any WISE event.
All award entrants, winners, runners-up and finalists grant WISE the exclusive right to use and reproduce their name, trademark and company logo for pre-event, onsite and post-event marketing of the awards, and for the commercial promotion of WISE and any WISE event.
Photography and filming by WISE’s approved photographers and film crews will take place during the awards evening and dinner. As photographs and film footage may include images of award winners, runners-up, finalists and attendees, all award winners, runners-up, finalists and attendees acknowledge and accept that WISE may record, photograph, film and broadcast (via print, electronic means and internet) any image or film footage taken during the awards evening and dinner. All winners, runners-up, finalists and attendees agree to offer WISE the exclusive right to use any image or film footage taken during the awards evening and dinner for the promotion of the awards, and for the commercial promotion of WISE and any WISE event.
All winners, runners-up and finalists of The WISE Awards 2024 will be given the entitlement to display the appropriate WISE Awards winner, runners-up and finalist logo on their websites and corporate marketing materials for their own promotion. Category winners, runners-up and finalists may only use the official logo in connection with the award for which they have won or announced as a finalist. The logo must be issued by WISE, must not be altered, and the year of the award clearly display.
By submitting your registration for this event, you consent to WISE contacting you via email and telephone with regards to this and future events / services.
Due to data protection regulations, attendee lists for the awards dinner are not offered by WISE.
The attendee numbers anticipated for the awards dinner are for guidance purposes only and WISE gives no assurance or warranty that the anticipated attendee numbers will be achieved.
These terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
Data Protection:
By entering The WISE Awards 2024, all award and category entrants have agreed to allow the details of their entry to be shared with the judges and representatives of WISE. All entrants will be deemed to have consented to the transfer and sharing of their personal, company and project data and information for the purpose of administration and judging of the awards and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
By submitting a registration for this event, the participant acknowledges and gives consent on behalf of all person’s mentioned on this registration form to have their details entered onto WISE’s database. The participant also acknowledges and gives consent for WISE to contact the registered delegate via email and/ or telephone for this and future WISE events and services that are relevant to them.
Your details will be entered into the WISE database to help us process your entry more efficiently and to keep you informed of information in relation to this event as well as upcoming events and services. Should you not wish to opt out of receiving information related to additional events and services supplied by WISE, please write to info@wisecampaign.org.uk
WISE will never sell or give your information to third parties.
Event Security / Photo Identification – IMPORTANT NOTICE:
As with all our events, WISE takes the security of its speakers, sponsors and attendees extremely seriously. Under no circumstances will any person be allowed access to the event without the following:
Event Ticket(s) – Approximately 4 weeks prior to the event, you will receive your event ticket(s) via email. You are required to bring your ticket with you on the evening before entry to the event is granted.
Photo Identification – All attending speakers, sponsors and attendees will be required to produce photographic identification at the point of registration before entry to the event is granted. Accepted identification is a valid Driver’s Licence or Passport only.
Please Note – We will not record, photocopy or scan your identification, this request is made for your security and will be used to match your identity to your registration only.
Important – Under no circumstances will any person be allowed access to the event without a ticket and photographic identification which matches the details of their registration. (Under no circumstances will passes be issued or made available on the day of the event)

By using the www.awardstage.com website (“Service”) you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”). The Service is provided by Oval Systems Limited (the “Company”), a private limited company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 04878752; Registered Office: The Coach House, 16b High St, Godalming GU7 1EB, UK)
The Company reserves the right to update and change the Terms of Service from time to time without notice. Any new features that augment or enhance the current Service, including the release of new tools and resources, shall be subject to the Terms of Service. We advise that you consult the Terms of Service prior to each use of the Service.
The Service is designed for the purpose of awards management and enables individuals to be nominated and considered for awards, prizes and other recognitions of merit (“Awards”).
Please note that the Company does not make decisions about which individuals should receive Awards and that the Service is a mere platform through which third parties (awards organisers) can gather information relating to Awards that they may wish to grant, and via with they can co-ordinate their judging and awarding processes.
In order to use the Service you must create an individual account (an “Account”) by registering your unique user details with Company.
When you register to use the Service your level of access will be determined by whether you register as a:
You will be informed of your level of access privileges when you first generate your Account on the Service. If your access privileges change for any reason, then you will be informed of this by the Company by e-mail or via the Service.
You can cancel your Account by using the functionality provided in the personalised ‘account’ page displayed on the Service or by contacting AwardStage via the online help form on awardstage.com.
You agree that all information and data that you upload to the Service, which includes publicly viewable information, information viewable only by Judges, and private information relating to your Account (all “User Content”) may not be removed from the Service upon cancellation of your Account and the Company reserves the right to retain any and all User Content which you have uploaded. This does not affect your rights with regard to Personal Data or Sensitive Personal Data under the GDPR.
The Company, in its sole discretion, has the right to suspend or terminate your Account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service, or any other Company service, for any reason at any time. Such termination of your access to the Service will result in the deactivation, cancellation or deletion of your Account, or your access to your Account, and the forfeiture and relinquishment of all of your User Content stored by the Service. In such an event, the Company reserves the right to delete any and all of your User Content. The Company reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.
The Company reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice at any time, and you agree that the Company shall have no liability to you or to any third party for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.
By submitting User Content to the Service you agree to grant the Company a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, global licence to use, display, adapt, modify and store that User Content and all intellectual property rights inherent to it as the Company may deem reasonably necessary in order to enable the provision of the Service to you and to other users, and to enable its users to grant Awards to individuals. You further agree that the Company may grant sub-licences to third parties to use any and all User Content submitted by you to the Service, including without restriction permitting individuals to quote, paraphrase, and otherwise re-distribute your User Content contributions in any form or medium that they may deem fit.
You agree that you have no right to anonymity in respect of User Content which you submit. Your submissions may be released to a wider audience and representations that you have made concerning third parties (including, for the avoidance of doubt, Entrants and individuals who may be considered for Awards) may be attributed to you, and that your identity and/or your authorship of your User Content may be made known to third parties as the Company, and/or its licensees, may deem necessary. You agree and understand that this is expected conduct in the course of entering an awards programme.
By accepting these Terms of Service you agree that you will not upload to the Service any User Content which is unlawful, offensive, threatening, libellous, defamatory, pornographic, or obscene, and agree that the Company shall be entitled to edit, delete or remove of such User Content as it deems fit.
Verbal, physical, written or other abuse (including threats of abuse or retribution) of any member of the Company, or any other user of the Service will result in immediate Account termination.
The Company may, but has no obligation to, remove User Content and Accounts containing User Content that it determines in its sole discretion is unlawful, offensive, threatening, libellous, defamatory, pornographic, obscene or otherwise objectionable or violates any party’s intellectual property rights or these Terms of Service.
You recognise that User Content uploaded by other users of the Service is their sole responsibility and that their contributions do not represent the views or opinions of the Company or any third party. In the event that you consider any User Content that may feature on the Service to be unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable you accept that your sole remedy shall be against the individual who submitted the relevant User Content to the Service and that the Company shall have no liability for its publication.
VIDEO CONTENT – The Company uses third party hosting services to store, and re-distribute to other users of the Service (such as Judges), any video-based User Content that you upload to the Service. By submitting video-based User Content in this way you are agreeing to the Company’s use of third party storage agents in this way and agree that the Company will have no liability to you for any failure to store, or to store securely, any such content.
Where you are provided access to video-based User Content as a result of your use of the Service you must keep that User Content (and any access code or similar device that you may use to access it) confidential, and you must not copy (including by downloading and saving a copy to your computer), redistribute, or otherwise exploit that content for any reason. Breach of this clause will be considered a serious and material breach of this agreement and may be a criminal offence; as such, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company against any loss or damage that it may suffer as a result of your breach of this clause.
You agree that the Company is the owner of all intellectual property rights (which includes, but is not limited to, all copyright, trademarks, patents, design rights, database rights, logos, domain names, and business names) inherent in the Service. The Company reserves all relevant rights in the Service and you agree that your use of it will not entitle you to receive any intellectual property rights relating to the Service.
Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis.
You understand that the Company uses third-party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage and related technology required to run the Service and consent to its use of the same.
You must not modify or adapt the Service for any reason without the Company’s prior written consent. You must not hack the Service. You must not do anything to the Service, nor modify another website, so as falsely to imply that you, or any other website or commercial entity with which you may be associated, is associated with the Service, Company or any other Company service.
All content and information which features on the Service is provided for your information only. It is not intended to amount to advice (legal, medical, professional, or otherwise) on which you should rely. You agree that you will obtain professional or specialist advice before taking, or refraining from, any action on the basis of the content featured on the Service.
The Company makes no representation or warranty that content featured on the Service will be accurate, complete or up-to-date.
The Company has no responsibility for the ultimate grant or assignment of Awards; each Award is assigned at the discretion of the third party which commissioned it and the Judges that any such third party may appoint. You recognise that the Service is merely a platform that enables the gathering of information relating to, and the assignment of, Awards and that the Company plays no part in the ultimate grant of any individual Award. As such, you agree that the Company shall have no liability for the grant of any Award in any fashion which you may consider to be erroneous or unfair and you agree that your sole remedy in such circumstances shall be against the party which commissioned and/or awarded the relevant Award and that the Company shall have no liability to you.
You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service or access to the Service without express written permission from Company.
You understand that the technical processing and transmission of the Service, including your User Content, may involve (a) transmissions over various networks; and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices.
You may link to the Service from other websites, provided that you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. The Service must not be framed or reproduced on any other website. Company reserves the right to withdraw linking permission from any party and for any reason without notice.
You must not upload, post, host, or transmit unsolicited email, SMS or ‘spam’ messages or content via the Service For the avoidance of doubt, attempting any form of ‘distributed denial of service’ attack against the Service shall be a breach of this clause.
You must not use or attempt to use the Service to transmit any worms or viruses or any code of a destructive nature.
Company does not warrant that (i) the Service will meet your specific requirements; (ii) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; (iii) the results that may be obtained from the use of the Service will be accurate or reliable; (iv) any errors in the Service will be corrected.
You agree that this agreement shall be the sole agreement between you and Company and that all prior representations and warranties shall not be a part of it.
You expressly understand and agree that the Company shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if Company has been advised of the possibility of such damages) resulting from: (i) the use or the inability to use the Service; (ii) the cost of procurement of substitute goods and services resulting from any goods, data, information or services purchased or obtained or messages received or transactions entered into through or from the Service; (iii) unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data; (iv) statements or conduct of any third party on the Service; (v) any virus or harmful code which may infect your computer via the Service, (vi) any reliance by you on any information or content featured on the Service; or (vii) any other matter relating to the Service.
Nothing in this agreement shall limit the Company’s liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, or fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
The failure of Company to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms of Service shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. The Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement between you and Company and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements between you and Company (including, but not limited to, any prior versions of the Terms of Service).
This agreement, its subject matter and its formation, are governed by English Law. You agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
